The benefits of having a sounding board

In both professional and personal development, people see the benefit of talking to someone external. As one person said to me, “you don’t understand something fully until you can actually talk it through with someone else”.

Having someone who will ask challenging questions, who listens well, and helps to draw out ideas and supports you to refine them.

Indeed, we often already know the answer but need to explore options, look at different perspectives and build on our ideas. A sounding board is great for a wide variety of areas such as starting or growing a business, career transition, leadership development and building confidence.

I have had my own sounding boards that have supported me in my thinking often to gain the clarity and focus that I needed.
